Backpacking in the Pacific Northwest

My Friends and I found this great backpacking trail that leads up into high alpine forests… We camped at the upper lake at about 6500 feet… The water was such a cold blue/green because this lake is fed by a glacier year round… There were billions of huckleberries all over the hillsides…

We made an earth/pit stove to cook on… We added a couple vent holes and put a flat rock in the fire to get nice and hot… Then we put the hot rock in the bottom and refreshed it with coals from time to time… The pot sat right on top of the ground so there was room for air flow.
