Rope (550 ParaCord)

I only carry one type of rope or cord in my pack… 550 cord… It is rated at 550lbs and has an inner core with 5-7 smaller white strands of cord. Each strand is very strong (35 lb. test I think) and can be used for anything from fishing line, lashings, thread for sewing, or maybe even sutures if you were in a very extreme emergency situation… It’s not a sterile material but if I needed to use it for a suture I would try and make it sterile and make it work until I could reach a hospital or other emergency services.

I like to use 550 cord for shoe laces and people also sell survival bracelets and belts that are made from 550 cord… This are great to have on a day to day basis because you can unwind them and then you have a good amount of paracord with you to use for whatever you need it for.
